I once caught some type of gar in a little steep/deep overflow pit next to a watershed. I'm the only one I know of to catch one from that lake/pond. A very cool & prehistoric looking fish.
And if that 300#er was as skinny as the one I caught, it had to be about 43 yds. long ;-]

Amazing creature! I wonder how old the fish was?
Alligators are so badass: they name other badass fish, lizards, & turtles after 'em.
Even 'pears'.
