Can anyone offer any insight as to why the gas price has so much separation from the price of crude? One thing I read was that they are starting to refine the gas with the summer blend which costs more. Not sure I can buy that seeing as we are in February but the refinery could be run by the same guy at Walmart who decides to but out Christmas stuff in October or swimsuits in February.

I think the summer blend is cheaper than winter, the winter blend has more butane or something for easier starting.

In the fall they always blame a price hike on the winter blend! They say the price has gone up because "winter blend" costs more to produce.
So which time are they lying?

The price of gas is artificially high. Why ever charge less than $3 when we have already showed that we will pay $4?

Exactly. It isn't any condition making the prices high they just want them that way fact. Oil companies post huge profits every year. They aren't hurting for money.
