If you wish, a 38+ minute video of a drive between the above two cities on Highway 550. I've been up and down that road a few times. I really need to get back, especially with a Jeep to do the off-road passes.

We were all over that place last month, but not off road. The folks we were with live in the area and have a jeep, but they just left for Alaska in a 3 month tour.
Probably next summer we are going back with the ATV's and hit the off road trails with our friends. They do the trails weekly.

We did the million dollar highway in the late 70's. It was totally scary then. Not so bad now.

From what I can read of the maps of the wildfires, those are further south near Durango.
