Mosin Nagant

Any Mosin Nagant fans here? I picked this one up at an auction yesterday. I knew very little about it before I bought it but have done a lot of googling last night and this morning

From what I can tell, it's Russian, 1946, imported by W Hurst.

Has an aftermarket ATI stock and modified bolt. I haven't tried to remove it but not sure what the allen bolt is for, it looks like it's welded. Rail added.The muzzle break is aftermarket right? And has this barrel been extended?

Good for you. They certainly get the job done and quite accurate with the correct ammunition. Not sure if you’re a reloader but if you are I strongly encourage you to slug the bore. There is such a variation between rifles that RCBS includes two different expander balls in their die sets. I have two and one is right at .308 while the other measures .312.

Owned 3, gave 1 away, sold the other 2. Never had one that shot with any degree of accuracy. Sure there are some out there but I haven’t found them.

All of the mods on this one make me think it was accurate for someone? Or they kept trying to make it accurate.. I haven't found any others with a barrel that looks like this. Is that extended or just covered by wood originally?

Looks like the barrel was sleeved on the outside and welded. That’s an AK74 style muzzle break. As for accuracy only time and ammo will tell.

When I was much younger I chopped an old Romanian M44 from the 50s. Even put one of those style turned down handles on the bolt carrier after I cut the factory handle off. They were cheep guns back in the early 2000s. The ammo was very cheep too. Not so much anymore.

Get some different ammo and take er out and see what she does.
