That is an awesome group!

My 308 shoots the 168 GMM better than anything I have reloaded so far (sub 0.400 groups), so I don't even try to reload for it. It helps that I bought 500 rounds of it on sale before it went up in price. I think I paid $15.88/box back then.

See thats what makes me wonder about reloading....maybe it will cut the cost down but I cant see gaining a whole lot accuracy wise. Even at expensive prices with the amount I actually shoot this rifle the difference between buying commercial for $1.25/rd vs taking the time to load it at what, .60/rd....not worth getting special dies, brass, primer and powders for one magic load. Now if I am able to shoot more than maybe it will make a difference but currently I have had this rifle about 1.5 years and have well under 200 rounds through it.

Nice group sir. Reloading to me isnt just a cost factor. Most of the loads I shoot out of my guns just arent made commercially. Hell I doubt none of them are. It allows me to make the gun do exactly what I want it to do.
Take that thing to Fouled Bore.

I have all the stuff to reload, thats the irony. I just cranked out 75 405gr cast 45-70 loads for my friends and I to try our hand at 100-200-300 on Sunday morning :D
I'd rather load plinking fun loads like that than ones I'm trying to get "holy crap precise" if that makes any sense? If I can hit my chest-size steel plate at 200 or 300 with my 1886 and my fun handloads, I'll be happy as can be!

I'll get my long range gun out to Fouled Bore sometime, hopefully in April before going to Nebraska for Prairie Dog season but we'll see.

Im going to try to go in the next few months, hopefully I can get another scope bought by then and have this 243 lined out.
Any info you can share on prarie dog hunt locations and prices would be greatly appreciated. Ive been a few times in Oklahoma but they are getting harder to find. I doubt I could ever afford to go out of state but I might could with a few years to plan for it.

Well I got lucky on Pdogs. My family has been hunting there on farmer-friends land for decades (pheasant) and a few years ago I got the wild hair to ask a friend up there about Pdogs and he set me up with one of his guys who lets us go out there for free. I spend a week there anyways every summer so now its something else fun to do on top of the annual visit. Its about half an hour from our house and if you plop down in the middle of it, you could shoot dogs out to 600 yards in every direction. We keep a bottle of the owners favorite beverage handy in case we run into him to say "thanks" but other than that he says kill 'em all and dont shoot the cattle.

Man thats awesome. I love going but have never really got to shoot like you see on TV. 500 rounds a day kinda stuff. At the places I've been its more like 50-75 rounds in 5 or 6 hours. But still fun.

Its hit or miss. First time I had 300 rounds of 17HMR and that lasted me a few hours. Other times there were 4 or 5 of us there and I had as much fun spotting for others as I did shooting.
Last time it was windy as heck so dogs werent out as much and the shots were way harder.

The first time mentioned above...it was literally whack-a-mole with a rifle. Couldnt load my mags fast enough. You would pop one, one of his buddies would come up to see what happened to him....you smoke him and two more get curious....then one comes out and starts dragging the corpses into the hole. Get him and that hole slows down...move over 50 feet and repeat on next mound.
