He was the brainchild and creator of the US counter-terrorism division, specifically SEAL Team 6 and Red Cell. This mission was exactly what the Rogue Warrior envisioned, planned and trained our SEALs to do. Without Dick Marcinko, we might not have been prepared to pull this type of operation off. He is the Godfather. Thank you, Demo Dick.

When I was in the Corps our base was hit by his Red Cell Team. He said our base was one of the most secured bases there was. We received a MUC ribbon for it. I later met him here on N.May at a book signing. (he didn't seem too impressed about the memory), but like you said a Great Commander and American.
Along with Marcinko we should extend that Thank You to Mr. Roy Boehm who started the SEALS. If you ever get the chance to read "First Seal", which is based on the life of Roy Boehm and the formation of the Navy SEALS it is well worth the time spent.
