Nice rifle, Congrats!

Why do you have the optic attached to a rail that is attached to a rail. Seems like you could cut the extra rail??? idk...

You adding back up irons?

Good question. I took those pictures a little prematurely. Yes, I do have backup iron sights on the rifle now. Actually, I am using the Magpul flip-up sights that came with my M&P 15-22. They co-witness with my red dot that I have mounted on the rifle in the photos. I don't like using a reflex or red dot from the hand guard. It's always too low and very uncomfortable for me to shoot that way, so I always go with a 1/2" riser mount. The one in the photo is the same one I have on my 15-22, and I have kind of fallen in love with them. So, I bought like 5 or 6 of them. It's just a preference issue....and because it is more comfortable for me.

Sharp AR! Impressive taking on an 80% for the first lower!

I'm curious to hear your report on the SI charging handle. I looked at those, but not sure they're worth the coin over a $15 mil handle.

Actually, I am a big fan of the Strike Industries charging handles. I got this one on a Black Friday sale on Primary Arms' website for like $28, so I bought 2 of them. I will say that I tried using it on the 300 Blackout upper that I just put together, and it didn't like the SI charging handle. It was sticking and making it very difficult to move the bolt to the rear. So, I threw in a black mil-spec CH with an extended latch (it came with my Palmetto State Armory BCG), and it seemed to work much better. I am a fan of anodized red AR parts. I like the look of it, so that's the main reason I bought it. However, I have purchased several SI products this week. I'm starting to like their stuff. I like their brand, and their style.

On a side note, my wife has decided that she wants a PINK AR-15, so I guess I'm going to order a pink 80% lower LOL! She helped me mill out the polymer lower on this build (she held the vacuum cleaner handle thingy while I worked the router. We still managed to get polymer shavings ALL OVER the place).

Excellent! Sorry about the divorce (?) but at least you got to bring your tools and stuff in. Things could be worse. Rifle looks good; impressive work.

Nothing wrong with rocking the pink! Here's mine:

It's not a big deal, really. We've been best friends for a very long time, but we just didn't make a good married couple. We don't have any children together, either. We thought it was best to end the marriage so that we could stay good friends. We still hang out and stuff.

Complete polymers are going for $40 or so now. Of course, if you don't want a serial or 4473, doing your own may be right for you. Also the feeling of accomplishment to complete your own lower. I enjoy building them myself, but if I were going to do an 80% I would not choose a polymer. Just a personal preference.

Congrats, good job!
