Did you happen to look at the post date for the OP's post? this was back in October.

Quite a few places online have 22 ammo right now. It's really coming back.

The easiest way to check out ammo availability in Wal-mart - http://findmeammo.com/walmart
Open website, select type of ammo and provide your zip code. I was able to score bunch of .22 using this.
