Recently got some stuff on here that was supposed to be 147gr .308 projectiles but it turned out to not be the case. Once I got them out and weighed them and hit them with the calipers it turned out that they were 123gr .310. Since 7.62x39 ain't in my wheelhouse that was a disappointment for sure.
More importantly, had I just trusted the label I probably could have loaded them assuming they were 308 and likely blown my gun up. I've never tried to ram a .310 projectile in a .308 chamber but I assume it could be done, and increase pressure a hell of a lot. Combine that with a completely wrong powder charge and that just reeks of bad things happening.
I don't think it was likely sold wrong on purpose, but still important as a reminder I suppose.
