Yes, it is a 9mm. Very comfy. It has some heft to it, but everything I have read says it shoots great. We will see.

What's the deal with the mag's base-plate and that front-lip / lever thingy?

They do make it in a 40. Also, the lip on the mag base actually flips down to allow pinky room.

They do shoot great. My brother had one and I loved it. Loading the magazine is a little funky though.
