New S&W Model 20

That bunghole has me looking at Viper 4" revolvers. Gonna sell a few guns to get a Viper. Seems SW could offer it both ways. That would tell them very quickly if it was a good idea. Probably risk assessment and lawyers convinced them to put the locks on.

Please let us know how you like the Viper if you get it.

I'm holding off at this time. Mainly due to price. But certainly not all Vipers have problems. Probably very few have issues considering they have produced thousands. Anyone out there have one?

I have the 4.25" Viper, but I haven't got to shoot it yet. Very favorably impressed with it.

IIRC, the bung hole lock company V was bought by the same group that owned S&W. The rumor was that the Ass Bill of ‘94 had gun companies, well some, scared and they were preempting possible laws. Bill Ruger was selling gun owners down the river, Colt neutered their AR’s before they had to along with adding the lower “block”, and so why wouldn’t S&W holding company do the same. What gets me is S&W reluctance to due do away with the bung hole forever.
