Methinks that perhaps Sir Hobbs is trying to create a smokescreen. It's kind of like throwing in a comment against conservatives when the overall theme of a thread is bashing a liberal.

Many presidential scholars feel Nixon was (IQ wise) the brightest president ever. I don't know how that could be empirical, just an impression I guess.
I think that is what they were getting at, he felt he was way ahead of everybody and they could touch him.
I think you're way off base; the first socialist/Marxist leaning Pres was in office about six decades earlier and his last name was Wilson.
He certainly is underrated, that's for sure.
Under his presidency, taxes were slashed, spending was slashed, a balanced budget was maintained, and 1/4 of the then-outstanding federal debt was retired. State and local governments had a bigger budget than the feds.
No one wants that.
