Yes. the pipeline is already flowing oil and has been for years. The issue is Phase 4, the final phase, which replaces the smaller, longer route with a larger more direct route with 2 additional stops in the US to add their crude. The oil is already transported through the US via rail and truck, and that is the real issue here. The rail lines don't want to lose the business. It has already been proven that the risk of environmental damage is minimal.
This crude is not scheduled for China, most of it is consumed by the US already. There are millions of miles of pipeline running through the US, this is nothing new, yet they have made it a political issue.
So the Buffett who lines obamass' pockets gets to keep it on the rail?
