Current Member here. Can't speak first hand about some of the stuff that was said here as my time with the club is limited. Before I joined I talked to quite a few current and former members about the club. Most of the former members said they really grew a bad taste for the club due to the politics. One specifically was involved in the activities of the hunt club and formed his own opinons of certain members in the leadership of the club. I can't speak for that person and I can't agree or disagree as I have yet to meet everyone in the leadership of the Hunt Club. I'll take my time forming my own opinions. I will however, note some consistencies of the opinions of certian individuals and their actions. As to the leases. Opening of rifle is chaotic as with any spot in the woods. In order to give everyone the best opportunity of a good spot. Anyone that wants to put in for a draw hunt can. If the drawing is rigged I can't say. Who knows. But the first few days of Rifle are all drawn hunts. Once it settles down you can just about pick where you want to hunt. You can reserve a spot out to 2 weeks in advance online. So you have time to plan. Weekends fill up quick on hot leases. weekdays are usually lower reservations. One down side as Saddlebum mentioned, you can only make a reservation for 3 straight days on one section of a lease. After that you have to pick another lease or another section of the lease. If you plan a 5 day hunt for your deer camp guys get away. Going to be hard to do that here. The major downside to the club is size. There is no way you can, with minimal fuel and time, scout all the properties. You have to pick a few setup your stands or blinds and stick with them. Another thing is you can usually find another members stand unoccupied. a quick call to the contact number can usually grant you permission to sit in their stand. I don't want to pay for the club for to many years. Once I have secured a place on a sizeable lease I will let my membership go. Currently I will be leasing a small section of land that is stacked with deer tracks. I'll be there on opening weekend of ML and Rifle. Archery to if I can scrape the cash together for a bow. If I can find a good sized lease with a large number of different game animals I'll do it. Until then I can hunt whatever I want on a Sportsman's Lease. If you are on the fence. contact a member and ask them to take you to a lease. Right now is prime predator hunting and scouting time. You can get an idea of the leases. If you take advantage of the multiple opportunities the cost is worth it. If you sit on one lease and one lease only you probably will not see your monies worth.
