Interesting article... According to it:

California spends only 5 cents per dollar, while Texas spends 51 cents.

On a related note via Weasel Zippers...

Louise Story of the New York Times writes an excellent piece on state subsidies for Hollywood films and studios – a frequent practice that often reaps very little in tax revenue or long-term jobs. [...]

According to the report, Liberal Michael Moore received $841,145 in incentives to film his documentary “Capitalism: A Love Story” in Michigan.

Chesapeake Energy sure needs that money more than our schools do, I tell you what.

Chesapeake deserves to be called out much less than people like Weyerhaeuser who received over 10 times the amount of money.

In fact, who is "HENDRICKS, THOMAS & MARY" who received more than Chesapeake to the tune of $17.1 Million. "GARY, SAMUEL & NANCY" also received 12.1 Million. "HAWKS, HOWARD & RHONDA" also pocketed 10.3 million?

It make me curious as to why this information is coming from the NY Times instead of a local news source? The same with some of the other articles about the US coming from the UK.

Well this was picked up and expanded upon by This Land, which is based in Tulsa.

Conspiracy theory answer: because the government controls the media!

Slightly less conspiracy theory answer: because the local media need access to people in state government and don't want to burn any bridges.

Probably true answer: most of Tulsa World et al's circulation don't really care about stuff like this and would rather concern themselves with piddly ******** like Vision2.

Chesapeake Energy just stuck out for me because I was already aware of just how many tax gifts they get.

The second largest natural gas producer in the US has paid less than $53 million dollars in taxes over its entire corporate history, on profits of $5.5 billion. Their effective tax rate is less than 1%.

I'm a Reformed Libertarian (and more fiscally conservative than people here probably suspect) but a tax rate of less than 1% is inexcusable.

Oklahoma is one of the most corporate friendly states in the country. It's been that way for a long time. Some call it friendly. Others call it state government bought and paid for.
