You guys that are flipping out about corporate taxes. Take a look at MLPs. They pay zero income taxes and make billions. Chew on that for a while.

MLPs don’t pay U.S. income taxes and distribute most of their free cash as taxable income to investors through partnership units, which trade like stock.

Yep. And us investors get to pay the tax. (My best stock purchase to date is a MLP and it up huge! Had I known it would do what it did, I'd be retired right now.)

Have you filed taxes with the MLP distribution yet? It is a different animal and there are definitely tax benefits to us investors as well, until you sell the MLP unit. But you can't beat 6% to 7% quarterly distributions!

I've invested in MLPs but my biggest mover is a refinery that is paying sweet "special" dividends.

What you guys seem to be missing is that the biggest part of that by far is a "Sales Tax Refund or other exemption". That applies when a business buys something for resale or for certain equipment used in manufacturing. In the first case it means that sales tax will not be paid twice for the same item, in the second it means equipment used to create jobs is not taxed.

I know some of you are very anti-business but you can do better then that.

If you really believe that this is the ONLY thing they are receiving tax breaks for I have an Island in the Arctic Circle for Sale, Only 200 Billion in Federal Reserve Gold Certificates.

Seriously these corporations do NOT need or deserve these tax breaks, they will JUST as quickly as they receive them begin draining and decimating employees retirement and pension funds, firing them, then handing out GIANT bonuses to the CEO's, yup they need that kickback. **** ME this country is full of moronic fiscal policy, and the culprit if the American public being of such a low IQ they actually believe the horse pucky they feed you.

And yet which state has a better financial record? :)

Give us time man - we're trying our damndest to catch them in a hurry. People like Mary Fallin (who accused Ron Paul supporters of being "Obama-Lovers" and is now media-whoring it up next to him) are exceeding all expectations of "don't do as I do... do as I say... when I say 'small government'".

Just a couple of points:
1) Oil will never be truly a free market, because it is global market and many nations have nationalized their oil production. Similar to recent issues of subsidizing aircraft manufacturing and US Gov't contracts, there will be countries that subsidize their oil price if it's advantageous.
2) Is it really a handout? Being able to deduct drilling costs in a single year instead of over numerous years? The federal government does this any time they wish to spur growth in given industries, Automotive being a prime example.
3)Is there a renewable energy that could replace all of Oil's usage at this time? I don't believe so, and until there is, why cause undue hardship. When an alternative could replace it except for the subsidy difference, then remove the subsidy.

To answer your questions

1) No because we allowed the major corporations to create legislation through lobbying that gives them ULTIMATE POWER, Oil and Gas is a LARGELY unregulated market, what I mean by that is yes their is Environmental concerns, but I can personally go Lease Minerals from land Owners, turn around and sell off the lease rights to an Exploration and Production company for 500% profit, they in turn will turn around and sell it off for 1000% profit, do not dispute this unless you have copies of Mineral Lease's to show me to prove it, and even then, they are the EXCEPTION not the rule which is above.

2) Yes anything given to these corporations is a handout, do you think Apple needs corporate subsidies to build a new Campus in California? No but they will get it! We are talking about a company worth 100 biillion CASH!!!! And they will receive .Government subsidies and also use the Double Dutch Tax Method like every other Corporation of Greed.

3) Yes their is alternatives, but our country is again BOUGHT AND PAID FOR, in the 1930's their was this plant called HEMP that our government REQUIRED our farmers to grow for war efforts, once the major corporations of the day, being DUPONT and American Steel, realized that this plant could replace domestic oil production AND cotton production AND create a polymer stronger than steel from waste by-product, they shut it down with racial prejudice and a fear campaign designed to brainwash the population into thinking it was ONLY A DRUG! And the public bough it hook line and sinker. Do you know that if we used hemp based plastics instead of petroleum based, we would not have the issues with our atmosphere and watershed from those production facilities, because as they exist now they literally have free reign to dumb heavy metal laced chemicals that are destroying the very planet they need to sustain life, so they can profit in the future, but no one looks farther ahead than their own mortality.

Not yet. Truth be told I have this stock in my HSA account (linked brokerage account) so for the time being it's tax sheltered but I will be paying taxes on it if I don't use it on medical. I haven't sold any units and I'm reinvesting that sweet 25% (based on my purchase price) dividend right back into more units of it. :thumb:
But don't think for a second that I haven't thought about buying some MLPs in my other accounts. But instead of dealing with the tax issues I've went to royalty trusts in those accounts, although my CPA says it's no big deal if I do decide to buy some. He's good and is not cheap, I don't know if he's just saying "it's no big deal and I'm going to really like handing you my invoice" or if he's just done a bunch of them and has it down pat.
