Oklahoma Youth Hunting Program Deer Camp 2021

OYHP hosted 47 young men and women and a parent/guardian for the 2021 Youth Deer Season. (After last minute cancelations) My camp originally expected 7. But going into the week of, I only had 5 committed.

Hunters arrived on Thursday and learned gun safety, handling, accurate shooting. Friday morning hunters and parents/guardians went to the blinds with volunteer hunting guides. 1 hunter was successful on Friday morning and he learned how to field dress and then process the deer.
2 brothers harvested deer on on Friday evening and also learned field dressing and processing.

Saturday morning another pair of brothers harvested mature doe. All hunters learned and help with field dressing, and processing of their harvest.

During the mid day they learned about traditional archery and were able to shoot traditional bows for a couple hours over the weekend.

A couple of the hunters are also learning to flesh the hides for tanning.
