Good afternoon... My 13 year old drew out to hunt the Western Wall in Osage County. It is on Nov. 5th and 6th. I was just wondering if anyone had hunted out there and what we could expect. I will be contacting the biologist shortly and will do lots of scouting but was hoping to get some info prior to making the trip. Thanks in advance....
I've hunted it once, but the 50 mph winds made it impossible to hunt. Only one person was successful out of 20.
A friend has hunted there for the youth hunt with his kids. Success rate was good. Expect lots of blackjack trees, small canyons, isolated clearings in the woods, and lots of bluestem grass pasture. They try to put in some small food plots, but the year I went, it was dry, and the food plots failed.
