There is some good and not so good info in the article, both pro and con. The con info comes from the Violence Policy Center so you know that it is lefty lib propaganda/lies.:pissed:

From the article:

"Jessica Brown, media spokeswoman for the OSBI, said it’s unclear what is causing the sharp increase in Oklahoma. “We don’t know what is spurring the need. We don’t know why it went up so much,” she said.

Betsy Randolph, state trooper and spokeswoman for the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety, said she thinks that violent acts in recent years, such as the school massacre in Newton, Conn., in December 2012, and talk of more gun control have caused more people to purchase firearms and seek concealed- or -open-carry permits."

The lefties would also possibly "dirty their pants" if they actually thought of the number of permit holders that were buying additional weapons that aren't showing up in the permit numbers.

However, I do have to question one thing in that article. That was the image of the state of Oklahoma with Cimarron County being in the range of 2000 to 2413. I'm originally from Cimarron County and I wouldn't bet that the population out there was too much more than the numbers listed as permit holders. As of the 2010 census, Cimarron County's population is listed as 2,475, according to Wikipedia.

Heh, based on that "figure" from the story, be v-e-r-y c-a-r-e-f-u-l if you go out there.

In contrast, the Violence Policy Center, a nonprofit advocacy group based in Washington, D.C., said it has uncovered hundreds of non-self-defense shooting incidents involving citizens with legal permission to carry concealed handguns. Those incidents resulted in 516 deaths since 2007, including the killing of 14 law enforcement officers and 107 people in mass shootings, the center said.

I want them to define what they consider as being "involved" for these statistics above.

502 "Private Citizens Killed by Concealed Carry Killers" ... includes suicides and unintentional shootings.

The last two charts on the rate of applications per 100k of population by county are interesting but I think the really interesting charts would be actual license holder rates by county. I know that wasn't the focus of the article since it was dealing with the application spike in the last 6 months. Actually, nobody quoted could say what they really knew and that the increase was tied to the 2012 election result, the same as spike in gun sales and ammo sales is tied to that result.
