You'll get tagged one of these days for stowage....maybe....those stupid rules change at some idiot's whim, maybe they realized a handicapped person minus cane might really mess up evacuation, but normally all loose items are stowed for take-off/landing, and often canes were to be (maybe) left stowed, I never tried to force the issue.
Meanwhile, these sail thru metal detectors with no problem...

Thank you for letting us know about the metal pommel cane and some municipalities. I hope I don’t ever need the cane for the reason I did last but I will be on the outlook for a hickory tree with a good crook in it. Does anyone have a hickory tree in your yard that you wouldn’t mind a free branches being removed😆
Go here, use dropdown for European Martial Arts, and under that you will find canes, including finished canes and unfinished blanks. I have only bought the blanks which require cutting the crook at angle and length to suit, as well as total cane length to suit, on top of whatever finish, where I go with 5 coats of tung oil (week between coats) with 30 days full cure before following with three coats of polyurethane (30day full cure). The ruler should give some idea of the sturdiness of the 1 1/16" diameter impact grade hickory as well as crook size on the standard cane. I have not bought any of the finished canes so have no idea of crook shaping, if cutting required, etc, but length would surely need cutting and then sealing/finishing. The crook has its uses in traps/holds/breaks/impact, but also makes it far easier to manage day to day, as straight sticks fall over when propped or must be stowed under arm when two hands needed, while the crook hangs from door knobs, chair/seat backs or arm.

If you go that route, the perfect length for walking on a level surface is measured from the ground up the leg with arms by sides, and where end of outside lower arm bone ends at notch in outside of wrist. The world is not perfectly flat, so I add an inch to that measurement for steps/curbs, and you'd want even more for hilly terrain. The extra length also gives reach for self defense, but every extra inch radically changes handling and weight, slowing down tip speed, as well as messing up support on level ground by bending arm excessively, so try not to add more than an inch if possible.
