Looks like your question was answered, I'd just encourage you to do your research before buying anything.
My opinion is AR500 steel plates are the Hi-Point pistols of the plates world and the people arguing for them don't realize how foolish they sound to the rest of us that have done more than watch a YouTube video from someone being paid to shill for them.
But again, that's my opinion and I'm just a stranger on the internet giving out free advice that isn't probably even worth what you paid for it.
I would put plates lower on the priority list than finishing setting up your main fighting rifle with high-quality optics, lights, etc., having the several dozen magazines you need for it, stockpile of ammo, as well as investing in several classes from well-respected instructors. If all that is squared away, then I would go for it.

USE OF BODY ARMOR
Any person who commits or attempts to commit a felony while wearing body armor as defined in Section 1289.19 of this title, in addition to the penalty provided by statute for the felony committed or attempted, upon conviction shall be guilty of a felony for wearing such body armor, which shall be a separate offense from the felony committed or attempted, and shall be punishable by imprisonment in the State Penitentiary for a period of not more than ten (10) years for the first offense, and for a period of not more than twenty (20) years for any second or subsequent offense.
