For a while now, sometimes when we flush the toilet or turn off a sink I have water that spits out of the shower for a second or two. Why does it do this and how can I fix it?

I gets annoying but really doesn't harm anything.

Do you have a shower bathtub setup where you have a middle knob that changes it from shower head to tub.
If yes leave it in the middle and see how that works.

No, it is a standard walk in shower with only the shower head.
