This shows that the white house knows that universal background checks require registration to work.

The NRA article

The actual report

"Summary of Select Firearm Violence Prevention Strategies
Greg Ridgeway, Ph.D.
Deputy Director
National Institute of Justice
January 4, 2013

(scroll about halfway down the page for this quote)
"Universal background checks
Twitter summary: Effectiveness depends on the ability to reduce straw purchasing, requiring gun registration and an easy gun transfer process"

I just left a message for Senator Coburn referencing this document and saying the POTUS knows UBC require registration and this is unacceptable.

Edit to add:
This is huge. This could be the turning point that will accelerate the decline of gun ownership, and the country, beyond recovery (if we're not there yet), and Coburn could be the key to stopping it.

Please contact Coburn in whatever way you choose and let him know UBC is UNACCEPTABLE!

Also found this in the document cited in the OP:

The challenge to implementing this (recovering guns from those who become ineligible) more broadly is that most states do not have a registry of firearm ownership. Currently NICS background checks are destroyed within 24 hours. Some states maintain registration of all firearms. Gun registration aims to 1) increase owner responsibility by directly connecting an owner with a gun, 2) improve law enforcement’s ability to retrieve guns from owners prohibited from possessing firearms.
Gun registration also allows for the monitoring of multiple gun purchases in a short period of time.

This paper is an assessment study and not the policy of the DOJ. Just as the Pentagon has contingency plans for attacking various counties, it does not mean they intend to attack them. It raises some major concerns in my mind but it is not a smoking gun showing a plan to implement registration.

I was flipping through channels and I saw Schumer on one of the news channels(sorry, I don't remember which one) right after the state of the Union and he let slip responding to questions about background checks that there would be a good chance of getting the registry. I can't find the video posted online anywhere, though. Anybody else see this or know about a link to that video?

If course liar Obama knows that the only way for it to work is to have registration. That is what he wants. And I really feel that we cannot trust Coburn to fight this. He wants it. I called and his receptionist said that he favors UBC. But he said that Coburn was against registration and an AWB and magazine ban. This is probably his last term so he doesn't care. He won't have to worry about pissing gun owners off and it costing him his next term. He is a politicians and cannot be trusted. The government knows exactly what they want. And they are going to keep pushing until they get it. They believe that we will just sit back and not do anything to stop it.
