Damar Hamlin's doctors say he's 'making substantial progress,' 'beginning to awaken' after on-field collapse

One of the first things Hamlin wanted to know after he began to wake up was who won Monday night's game.

Damar has awakened and is neurologically intact.

Apparently he asked, "Did we win?" The doctors reply, "Yes, you won the game of life."

He is not talking, still has a breathing tube but is using written notes. He was surprised he was not with us for two days after the accident.

The doctors are praising the team's medical units for recognizing quickly this was not a routine medical injury and performed CPR and cardio shock on the field. No cardio resuscitation was necessary after that.
