[QUOTE="Sniper John, post: 1218070, member: 8580"] A bipod does me no good in a tree stand or tripod or any kind of portable stand one might use on public land. Private land off a bench such as with your bipod or rested in window of a permanent box stand is where a crossbow would shine. A tripod with an adjustable or low rail perhaps would work well, but mine has the rail too high to effectively shoot my crossbow. I almost have to stand up to pivot it on the rail for shooting down in crossbow range. You may not have to draw a crossbow, but it is still used in similar situations as compounds for most people on public land. You still have movement bringing to shoulder and you still have to hold it steady without a rest. Sometimes for an extended time same as a compound bow. For public land I personally feel I have an advantage with my compound for hunting. On private land where I am hunting from permanent box type stands with a feeder under 50 yards away I have a great advantage using a crossbow. It's like fly fishing. On a mountain stream with a fly rod I can usually outfish a spinning rod fisherman two trout to one. On a lake the spinning rod guy can outfish me 3 to one or more up against my fly rod on most days.
