[QUOTE="tRidiot, post: 2525473, member: 9374"] No problem, man. I think it was just getting over the initial thought of painting one of my guns! lol Now I'm ready to do another! However I don't want to do it until I get it "complete", ya know? As in, I'm not going to make anymore changes. And the only other all-black ones I have are my son's 15-22 and my 6.8SPCII. I don't think he wants his camo, and mine has the plastic handguards and a FSP... I've been thinking of losing both of those. Well, the black undercoat I did was unnecessary, first of all, but I wanted an even basecoat underneath. I think next time I'll do the basecoat as the light tan, then go over it with the dark brown and green. Most of the patterns on mine that seemed to pop more were the ones I did where went back over the tan with the green and a stencil... so I think I'll skip a couple steps. Here's what I did. All paints were flat camo Krylon from Wal-Mart: 1. Remove charging handle and BCG, tape trigger, close port door. 2. Spray liberally with dregreaser - 3 times! lol 3. Basecoat of flat black. Dry 15 minutes. 4. Few diagonal random stripes of green. Few stenciled green with mulberry. 5. Repeat #4 with dark brown. 6. Repeat #4 with light brown. Then to add-on: 7. Added more areas of light brown, then stenciled over them with crosshatched and stenciled dark green. So basically, if I skip 3,4 & 5, I can start with solid light brown and stencil the darker colors over that. That is what seemed to look best, it seems to me. The dark green over black is barely noticeable from a distance. And the dark brown over black and dark green is barely even noticeable up close. So I think the light undercolor will help more than a black base. And if it looks like *****, I just acetone it and start over, right? Actually, the most nerve-wracking part of it for me was the optic. I know it isn't fancy, but I spent like $175 on it, plus another $20 in the Butler Creek flip-ups. So I was worried about the knobs getting gummy or something like that. But I haven't tried it yet. I'll have to wait and see. On my 6.8 I was considering putting a cheap Buckmark I have on there to paint... but it's got low-low rings and I figure the FSP will obscure it, so I'ma need to get some higher rings or a mount first.
