Restraining Order Question

I had someone offer to buy one of my guns, I did a check on them...and noticed he has had 3 different restraining orders...one as recently a January. They were all dismissed...but I decided not to sell to him. My question is for future reference...what is the law on gun ownership and restraining orders?

frankly, if this was a person to person, theres nothing holding you back from selling. dismissed temporary orders mean zilch. bad reason not to sell, if you ask me.

On here that's what I do...but on armslist and FB groups...I usually check them out. Try to cover my butt.

Thats just it. there's no reason to 'cover your butt' - you have no responsibility to that seller other than to provide what you've advertised and take their money. I can appreciate being aware of who you are selling to, but the reason you chose not to sell doesn't even disqualify the buyer from having an SDA license in OK, much less limit his(or her) ability to purchase a firearm.

The guy is close to some day answering a yes on 11h of the 4473, but that doesnt pertain to you anyways, as long as he isnt a felon your deal would have been good to go it would seem.

It appears only a handful of states prohibit firearms possession or ownership if the person has a restraining order against them. I feel like you did the right thing if it helps you sleep at night.

Personally, if I get a bad feeling about someone I would not sell to them. Right, wrong and legal are often no where near as well defined as some might think. I try to make sure I sleep well regardless.
