Ron Paul still just on the fringe?

Who would be the third party candidate if Paul won the nomination? I do not see the comparison to Perot if Paul were to win the nomination.

Romney is a no go for me. I would take Gingrich over Romney.

I'm about ready to just give up and show up at the gates of one of JB's camps. I'm down for plank-owner status in there vs. our current mess.

Hasn't Ron Paul ran as an Independent before? I was assuming he would run as a third party if he didn't get the republican ticket.

Oh and Jesse Ventura said he would run as his VP if he does go Independent.

Might as well just vote for Obama if we get a 3d party candidate.

Conventional wisdom is that we are split 40% Dem, 40% Repub with the fence sitters in the middle. Even if the third party candidate got all of the fence-sitters, there is zero chance of him/her stripping away enough of the 40% on either side to keep O from being reelected.

Obama supporters will never throw the lever for a Republican, and they won't throw it for a third party conservative...our only hope is that they just stay home.

At this point, the best I'm hoping for is an increased margin in the house and a take-over in the Senate.

Yes he has before but I don't know if he would run independent this time. The only way I would vote for him as an independent is if Romney got the nomination.

Obama = Socialist who calls himself a Democrat
Paul = Capital L Libertarian who calls himself a Republican

Both are extremists.

One has done enough damage already.
Can the country survive the type of damage the other could cause?

Right, what we need is socialism lite.

The real debate is authoritarian or libertarian. Conservative authoritarianism is just the same as liberal authoritarianism. So I would certainly identify with the libertarian with a capital L. I think it is part of the reason Paul is garnering a wider base of support. Many democrats now realize O is just another establishment, corporation bought politician.

Damage? While I'm sure some would consider it "damage", others might consider it reversal of decades of .gov mismanagement. Unless you consider what we have now as a good thing. :(
