I mentioned this last week, it's all about largesse. Free stuff for everyone. My only comfort is that the laws of economics will come into play soon enough. And like the law of gravity, it's going to come down. Progressivism is unsustainable.

What we need now is more pain. We need more layoffs, much higher unemployment, increasing inflation at the grocery store and gas pump......pain I tell you. That is the only way stupid dumbed down Americans can "get it". They need to get hurt and hurt bad. This pain is coming and the only question is if it will be in 1 year, 2 years or 5 years. At some point the pain will be enough for people to quit voting for Democrats and Republicans. At some point a legitimate 3rd party will have to come to fruition or the country will have to break apart through secession. The only other choice is to go down with the ship.
You had me until you got to the third party. The other two will never allow it to happen. Anymore than they will allow any state to secede from the union.
The other 50% is still here, and still bitterly clinging while they slowly reach the enlightenment that they control the groceries, fuel, and other products.

Actually, could it be sooner than we think? After all, much of society now lives in the "I-want-it-now" world. If they determine that government can't provide them all they want soon enough, they may change their philosophical direction. For example, look at the nightmare that is the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, a natural event that didn't even own up to being a hurricane at the time it hit New Jersey and New York. People are finding that that in spite of government programs, they aren't getting relief.
While Sandy may have helped Obama gain reelection, could it be possible that it may prove to the people that even government can't get them what they want as soon as they want it?
I guess time will tell. And lefties may find that they aren't as smart as they think they are and that those on the right are smarter than first thought.
