S&W 442 question

This is the next gun I am going to purchase. A friend of mine tells me they still make them w/out the internal lock...is this true? The lock is not a deal breaker for me but...if I had a choice Id go no lock. I know you can buy the no lock on auctions but...do they still make em this way or are they "older" ones? Thanks.

Those are the older ones. I carry a 638, and there is no difference with or without the lock. I just don't use it.

I think there have been three revisions, the third has the lock.

They did make a run without the lock. Like last year? You may be able to find one still in stock somewhere. Don't know if they are still making them though.

I thought they made more than one run. There are still quite a few new guns without locks out there. You just have to look around.

I usually purchase my guns at H&H or ODA store. All I see are the lock models.

I have seen them on auction sites, but I want to buy local and actually want to examine the gun first. The lock is not a deal breaker. I have a S&W model 63 22 revolver w/ lock...I dont mind it anymore.

You are probably out of luck if you want to buy one locally but just in case give Kings Gun & Pawn in Del City a call.
