I don't want to screw up your ad, but I'm going to comment anyway.
I have considered the same thing you are considering, knowing if my lead is of the correct hardness.
I thought I would just use a ball bearing and a small clamp to press into my lead.
Then compare it to a ball bearing pressed into some lyman number 2 alloy.
I would not care what the actual hardness is, I only care if it is near the hardness of the number 2 alloy.
I guess you could weld a nut to the end of the C-Clamp bolt to use a 1/4 inch torque wrench for consistent pressure.
