So much for trusting a Democrat to follow through on a promise!

Schumer withdraws offer on Trump's wall
Republicans aligned with Trump are unlikely to go for any bill that does not offer a major boost in border wall funding.

Chuck Schumer is taking his big spending boost for Donald Trump’s border wall off the table.

The Senate minority leader, through an aide, informed the White House on Monday that he was retracting the offer he made last week to give Trump well north of the $1.6 billion in wall funding Trump had asked for this year, according to two Democrats. And now they say Trump will simply not get a better deal than that on his signature campaign promise.

No funding for the border wall, then absolutely no protection whatsoever for DACA's. As a matter of fact, promise to quadruple DACA deportations beginning March 5th. Let Schumer shut down the government on the 8th and see how long he holds out this time. It's way past due that we stop letting illegal immigrants hijack our representation and shut down our government. Reagan granted amnesty 32 YEARS AGO in exchange for the promise that border security and enforcement would be fixed. The amnesty is permanent, but the promised border measures never happened. So Trump needs to draw a REAL line in the sand. No border wall, no sanctuary. If Schumer and the Democrats want DACA protections, then the cost up front should be full and irrevocable funding for the border wall; mandatory E-Verify for all employers; harsher penalties for employers who circumvent E-Verify to hire illegals, increased border patrol funding and economic sanctions for so-called sanctuary cities and states.

They've already owed us this for 32 years, so no concessions up front and no deals without paying up!

I almost posted exactly this yesterday. It would have went something like "I hope Trump remembers the lies that were told to Reagan". He needs to make sure when he does give them DACA (and he can if he does it right) that the wall is there with funding already locked in and no way for them to weasel out of it.

The reality is that Schumer never did promise Trump funding for the border wall. He offered the funding authorization, not the appropriation. What's the difference? In this case, about $1.6B, because that's what happened with the Reagan Amnesty. The border protection funds were authorized but never appropriated. That's why 32 years later, we still don't have a secure border.

BTW, Trump wanted (and needs) $20B to complete the wall, but Schumer only offered an annual authorization of $1.6B. At that rate, the wall wouldn't be completed for another 15 years (after factoring inflation) even if they actually appropriated all that authorized funding, while DACAs would get amnesty now. Again, the same bait and switch used on Reagan back in 1986. Schumer was in Congress back in 1986 and he thought he could do the same thing to Trump that he did to Reagan. Nice try, but no cigar!

Trump fires back at Schumer’s fake deal!

White House fires back at Schumer's 'phony' and 'bogus' negotiations after wall funding offer withdrawn
The White House is firing back at Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer for offering, then rescinding, a “phony” and “bogus” deal to support border wall funding in return for an immigration package that protects illegal immigrants brought to the United States as children.

“He comes over here with a phony plan and a fake promise,” White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley said Tuesday on Fox News’ “Outnumbered Overtime.”

A Schumer aide confirmed to Fox News on Tuesday that the leader withdrew his offer of a boost in funding for the president’s proposed border wall. It was initially made during negotiations over the government spending bill with the president last Friday, the aide said.

Schumer’s office says he pulled the wall offer on Sunday.

But Gidley said they didn’t take the offer seriously, saying the Democrat offered less than one-tenth of what was needed to secure the border in his “bogus negotiation.” The administration wants $18 billion dollars for a border wall.

“You can't rescind money you never really offered in the first place,” he said.

After a three-day government shutdown, Democrats agreed to re-open the government on Monday after Republicans assured them the Senate would soon consider legislation that would protect the so-called Dreamers.

SCHUMER BASHED BY LEFT OVER SHUTDOWN-ENDING DEAL

During Tuesday’s press briefing at the White House, press secretary Sarah Sanders said the president opposes an immigration proposal brokered by Republican senators Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Jeff Flake of Arizona and Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois.

“In a bipartisan meeting here at the White House two weeks ago we outlined a path forward on four issues: serious border security, an end to chain migration, the cancellation of the outdated and unsafe visa lottery and a permanent solution to DACA,” Sanders said. “Unfortunately, the Flake-Graham-Durbin agreement does not meet these bench marks.”

With their past records, IMHO, this video is directed at Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Libertarians, EVERY POLITICIAN at the local, state, and national levels! Also IMHO, Trump has been the only politician that has tried to honor the promises that he made to get his J-O-B!

The wall is a dumb idea anyway. It’s practically useless. Can’t believe we are letting fiscal negotiations get hung up on such a ridiculous project.

Anyone with a minute of military experience understands that obstacles without overwatch are near pointless. Without overwatch will be easily breached in no time.

We need coherent immigration policy and robust domestic enforcement of that immigration policy more than we need a ridiculously expensive wall that does nothing but enrich the engineering and construction company that will build it. Let’s follow the money there, that would be interesting.
