.30-06 at 300 yards, that 2-7x should be just fine. The BDC is OK, if you like them, helpful for longer shots, but 300 max; sight it max point blank. About 2" high at 100 yards, dead on 200, aim a little high at 300. At 350, cross hair on a
back, above shoulder, puts it right where you want it.
7x vs 9x isn't going to make much difference.
