Shorter barrel for 7mm rem mag

I'm rebarreling a savage with a barrel that I basically got for free it is 1.25 bull and is 26" long. I had considered shortening it to 20-22". Has anybody done any playin with this caliber out of shorter barrels? This gun is mostly for target use at 5-600yds but also sees some deer duty so would like to save a lil weight

You'll get less velocity and more blast but either way it wouldn't really matter
