I love gold dot, I think it's kicking almost at max speed for non +P

My 625 is rated for +P, so any reasonable load should work without harming my handgun. I have heard of pushing a 200 grain bullet at 1400 FPS out of the Model 22 (made in the 2000's of course) but that strikes me as just a tad on the warm side.

I think that would be hard to do even 165 +p is maxing close to 1200, 1400 your talking 357 sig or mag, or 10mm

I shoot it from time to time, it's pricey so I just keep a few mags loaded from home/self defense. It's noticeably warmer than Winchester white box for sure! But it's not that big of a deal. They are great HP cartridges reliable massive expansion. I have shot both 230grain, and 200 grain +P. I have not seen much on the 200grain +p but a local hardware store sells it so I buy it sometimes. I have "heard" they don't expand as reliably, the HP cavity is different, it's slightly more narrow and comes in at the bottom forming an inverted cone..V shape. Where as the 230grain standard pressure bullet is just a huge deep ashtray of a hole.

My guess is because of the higher MV of the 200grain +p they changed the bullet design, the normal 230grain bullet design maybe suffered some failure like jacket separation or something at that velocity? The thing I do like about the 200grain +p rounds, is that they are offering near off the shelf 10mm energy in a .45ACP. Speer claims 518ft/lb if I recall correctly, where the 230grain standard pressure is only rated 404ft/lb....Winchester white box 230grain FMJ is 356ft/lb for comparison.
