You would have to call them. I was told you couldn't hunt the turkey's with a bow because they said there are none out there.

LOL, that place is loaded with turkey...also, there are many areas & acres, so if no turkey in one, doens't mean they are not in another. I was also considering bow hunting turkey out there too...I bet you'd get a different answer depending on who answered the phone.

I asked the game warden who stopped during deer season a few years ago

The only seasons open at Tbird is deer archery and waterfowl. There are no other seasons out there. You may kill a pig during deer season with archery equipment, but nothing else is allowed.

Well I've carried many a pellet gun onto public land in my youth...I would think certain pest species would be allowed that don't have a season? (like starlings). I've been out there before just to go exploring outside of deer season. I also wonder what the ranger would do if you were out there with a pellet gun just looking for somewhere to shoot cans?

Depends on how many squirrels are hanging from your belt I guess.

Thunderbird doesn't allow any hunting activity before October 1or after duck season closes. You can only actively hunt deer, duck, predators (coyote / bobcat / etc) and hogs during that time. Waterfowl is the only type of firearm allowed out there except for a CCL style gun.

In some ways i wish they'd open it up to more options but i also understand why they don't (housing density, distance to metro). There's plenty of turkey, but wouldn't be if they were allowed to be hunted there for even just one season.

It’s very tempting to bring a small air gun or sling shot out there. I’m surrounded by squirrels when I’m sitting out there.

If I lived out there, I'd be more worried about a rogue arrow than a pellet gun...Of course, there are some hi-powered PCP guns and in larger calibers too (which some people use for hog hunting where legal). BUT, at the very least, they could open it up for squirrel/rabbit with either a 177 or 22 cal airgun limitation maybe? Or maybe an FPE or FPS limit to keep it safe? The UK is limited to 6FPE in air pistols and 12FPE in air rifles for hunting unless they have a special permit to own something more powerful. You can take a squirrel with a reasonable distance shot with 12FPE no problem.
