Many here will probably justify the actions of the officer and label the student as a bored punk who gets his jollies off putting officers in their place, so be prepared for that.

I think situations like this are a good thing. It keeps the cops in check, who may or may not have good intentions, and refreshes their memories on laws that could otherwise turn into a situation where an innocent and law-abiding citizen, like most of us here, ends up arrested, harmed, or worse yet, killed.
