Exactly, not good.

The conspiracy theorist in me wants to say this was expected. How could they strike-down the state laws when the next POTUS will want the Federal Government to pass the same type of ban. They punted on the decision.

The problem is that it is looking more and more like the Dems will be filling the court in the upcoming years.

And sadly... there is nothing we will be able to do about that. Whether it's Trump or Hillary, someone is going on that bench who will be willing to sell out gun rights as we know them today. Hillary's stance is clear, but Trump will try to put someone "moderate" in there who is willing to compromise on caliber, capacity, transfers and background checks or worse.

Just be ready, folks, because it's going to happen. I was hoping it wouldn't be in our lifetimes, but the farther along things go, the faster, and I think the momentum will shift against us. I no longer expect to die at a ripe old age with my gun collection being passed down to my heir(s).

Here's what the different actions mean:
1. Decline to hear case = lower court decision stands
2. 4 to 4 tie in SCOTUS = lower court decision stands
3. Majority votes to sustain = lower court decision stands
4. Majority votes to overturn = changes lower court ruling

The next person appointed will make it 9 members, but for now we can have ties, and FOUR of the present members voted AGAINST HELLER (5 TO 4).
So for now, ANY anti-gun legislation approved by a lower court is going to STAND. The SCOTUS for the present is no protection for the 2A, because half the present members believe it DOES NOT APPLY TO INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS, and if you listen to them on CSPAN when they visit law schools, they have clearly said that is what they believe.

To say the next appointment is critical to protection of the 2A is a gross understatement. If Hilly becomes prez and makes an appointment to SCOTUS, the 2A will be ruled not to apply to individuals, and what you and I and 100 million other people believe will not mean squat.

This is exactly why I have been addressing the Trump bashers on this firearms site. Most of the bashers seem to have only heard snippets and twisted half truths to make comments, not the whole speeches.

Yes, Trump COULD be a phony and double cross us, but at least if that is his plan he is not advertising it. Do you want to take a slight chance on him doing this or a 100% chance Hillary will do every thing she can to erase the 2nd A?

I'll take the chance over a for sure bad thing.

I always assumed it would happen in my lifetime. I've bought enough for my kids and I'll still pass em down and they'll keep their mouth shut and smile knowing they have the tools and skills to use them if needed no matter what the gov rules.

Here's some listening material for you. One dude says his list is a "conservative goldmine". Hopefully we'll get to find out.

Responding favorably to the names put forward by Trump, Klukowski began, “This list includes some incredible conservatives, from Diane Sykes on the federal Seventh Circuit, to Tom Lee on the Utah Supreme Court, to David Straus on the Minnesota Supreme Court, to Don Willet on the Texas Supreme Court.”

The list included three former law clerks of Justice Clarence Thomas, the most conservative justice currently serving on the Supreme Court.
