I saw on the news where their trying to pass a law that lets teachers carry guns at the schools. Does anyone know how far along or where they are with this?

HB1062. See thread in 2ndthe Amendment forum. Passed committee but requires reserve officer training and the consent of the school district.

Looks like feel good legislation that even if passed will accomplish nothing.

I want ballistic windows, glass, and locking doors in every school... Same thing I've been saying since Columbine. Yet it always comes down to people refusing the taxes... Mainly, because they're cheap, and districts tend to skimp on what is earmarked so they can splurge on the new tech bullspit of the day

Exactly, people want it until they find out it costs money. Thats why they are going after the guns, it will only hurt the gun owners, so they get off without it hurting them. Typical crap these days, want it as long as i dont have to pay for it.

That's all well and good, but nothing stops kids from propping open doors. See it all the time. Nothing stops a student shooter from sneaking a gun in a backpack right into the school. During lunch time and passing periods, those locks and bullet proof glass do nothing. Those are more illusion of safety measures like the super expensive scanners that require guests to swipe a drivers license once they seek out the office to do so. In all of these active shooter scenarios, the moment the attacker was confronted by an armed response, no more innocent people were killed. That is why teachers should be allowed to choose to be armed.
