Even the "Onion" stories would have a hard time competing with this bit of reality.

CHURCH HILL, TN (WJHL) -

A Church Hill woman allegedly crashed her car into a church and then stabbed her husband in the chest after telling him, “The devil is in me,” according to a police news release.

Steven Hamman told Church Hill police just before 10 p.m. Sunday that his wife Stephanie Hamman drove her car through the front doors of Providence Church. He went in the building to check on her after she called him from the church and found her lying in front of the altar. She then stabbed him with a large kitchen knife, according to the release.

He pulled the knife from his chest, returned to his apartment at The Landings, 230 Silver Lake Road, which is across the street from the church, and waited on police and emergency workers to arrive.

Stephanie Hamman was found by police around 20 minutes later at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport. She was read her rights by Church Hill Police Officer Dustin Dean.

According to the news release, Stephanie Hamman said she had decided to live for God, and that God told her she should not smoke marijuana all day and night. God said that she only needed to smoke pot to relax at night.

Stephanie Hamman also said she was mad because her husband was “worshipping the NASCAR race at Bristol,” according to the release.

She also said God wanted her to get in the church.

According to the release, she said, “So God told me He wanted me in there, so I drove my car through the front doors.”

Stephanie Hamman continued speaking to police and said the devil told her to bring the knife with her.

“I laid down in front of the altar until he got there,” she said, according to the news release. “I prayed I would not have to use it on him, but I did.”

She then asked if her husband was dead and said she smokes a lot of “weed.”

“I love to smoke it,” she said, according to the release. “Sometimes when I do, I start seeing things that others don’t. Isn’t God good? He told me this would happen, and just look, I am okay.”

She was charged with attempted first-degree murder and felony vandalism.

I don't use the stuff but there's no way marijuana caused that unless it was laced with PCP as others mentioned. My bet is she's nuttier than a squirrel turd and has been self medicating with pot, might actually be good she's been stoned out of her gourd all this time, she could have gone full blown crazy in the mall.

All I can say is if your wife "smokes a lot of weed" and is that crazy maybe it's time to get a little counseling or, in this case, admit her into the happy house on the hill for an extended stay retreat.
