The key word in this posting is FIRST .
Buddy Baker was the FIRST to run a 200 MPH Lap in a NASCAR Stock Car


Maybe you didn't study the little Dick, Jane, and Spot books enough. I didn't say Baker wasn't FIRST. I just pointed out his record stand very long like Issac's did.

NASCAR Rule changes in 1971 brought restrictor plates to the track and later in the decade brought small blocks of which both had a direct effect on speed for several years.
