If either were mechanical watches, I'd agree but from what I understand, since the 80s Japan has been catching up to the Swiss, and pretty much surpassed them in the Quartz-movement world. Citizen makes some of the highest quality Quartz watches around. The "caliber 7878 movement" is pretty much the top dog in the Quartz-world. In fact, I don't know that Citizen even makes any mechanical watches anymore. I want to say pretty much every newer model uses their "Eco-Drive" solar-power technology.

That being said, I'd absolutely love a truly "Swiss Made" watch of one of the many companies producing quality stuff, but that is probably out of my price-range for a long time.

Dude, I had no idea how bad-ass that watch was when we were backpacking. Now I want to see it next time I'm over that way.

I really wanted to get the one with the white dial(easier to see and a nice contrast), but I couldn't justify an extra $300 for aesthetics alone(The color of the dial is seriously the only difference, besides the color of the thread on the band and the hand color; they are both T22's). But to tell you the truth, I think I am happier with the all black one(more uniform).

I use a chronograph on a watch(for various things), so it is something I look for as a feature(As well as it being at least 100m water proof). One feature I have been looking for to compliment it would be tritium dials(not a huge fan of charge to glow). I have seen many tritum capable watches, but none with a chronograph(At least none that are reasonably priced). I guess I could find something digital with a light, but I prefer dials......

The Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon Magnate Chronograph is dead sexy and everythign I want in a watch, but I can't justify a $4k watch.

IDK what you consider reasonably priced, but have you checked out the Marathon CSAR? They can be had used for $1400-$1600, which is an amazing price for an indestructable watch

Yes I am familiar with the watch, and I would love to have it. Though I never considered looking at the used market for one. The game just changed.....lol

Yeah i think they are a phenomonal value on the used market and if i could afford one i'd have it in a heartbeat, even if it looked like a piepan on my small wrists! LOL.

If you like Chronographs, there's one almost like that with one built in (for not too much more):

I have the chrono of that EcoDrive and really like it. Personally I'd rather of not had the chronograph but it was a anniversary gift so I love it as-is. My only quam is the strap that comes with the watch. It looks really good but that is it. It is short ( barely fit on my average size wrist), the adjustment holes are way too far apart. And the leather liner really sticks to the wrist when you sweat even a little.

I replaced the strap with a cheap ZULU / NATO ( I couldn't tell you which ) strap and love it now

Well, it cost me my M&P, but I picked up a Seiko Solar "Pepsi Diver" and the Sawtooth-bezel Auto (my first auto - I'm nervous about it). The SC0031 (Pepsi Diver) finally went on sale at Amazon for $160 and I applied for an Amazon rewards credit card (they didn't even require that I use it for a purchase) and got a $60 gift card, so I got two watches that retail for around $375 each for about $130 each - and that was too good of a deal for me to pass up.

The rubber band on the Diver isn't all that impressive, so I've already got a band from the Orange Monster Diver on order for it (it's currently on a NATO strap and looks pretty good that way, but I want a diver band for it).

I think this watch addiction might be a tad more dangerous than the knife / flashlight addiction...

I wear a Rolex Sub daily and have for years. But that Pepsi Seiko looks awesome. What is the face size?
