Wow, been so dang long I can't recall the last time we saw any wild pigs in our area. My buddy Ron found these images on his trail cam - He has 400 acres North of Blair. Hmm, 6.8, 45 Win Mag, .308, .300 AAC or .338? Especially with the 'CANS" ..... :D

I just moved to Altus and I have heard people at the local cafe in Warren about the pigs in the area. BTW the cafe Biddys in Warren has the best hamburger I have had in the area.

Back in the early 90's, I worked at a state prison in my hometown of Childress, Texas just 30 miles from Hollis. I remember one time, the State Game warden took the prison warden, asst warden and others on a hog hunt out south of town. They were hunting from a helicopter, shooting the largest of the herds and allowing the ground crew (which included some inmates for muscle) to pick them up and load them in stock trailers. They hauled them back to the prison, slaughtered them out behind the kitchen and cooked them up. They had enough to feed the whole unit of about 1300 inmates, for several days. That was the best those inmates ever ate from that kitchen!

There's always been a lot of hogs in that area.

By the way I'm Ron the guy with the property. My land is just south of Mangum a pretty rough piece of land. Part of me would like to see these hogs get started on my place and another part of me thinks they might run the deer off. But if it comes to big guns both Randy and I have 50 BMG plus I've got 3 45/70s, A shiloh Sharps and a Marlin 1895. I don't think I would try a hot loaded 45/70 in my old trap door Springfield. There are some pigs close to Warn on that fork of the Red River and that band of shinnery oak stand to the sout west of Warn. Oh I've also got a 629 .44 Magnum from the S&W Custom shop that I've always wanted to shoot a pig with.

I have a buddy who has a rather large old family place down there. He keeps inviting me down to shoot some porkers with him. Can't seem to match up days off.
