Rear ended a guy on the N. Bound 169 to 31st street off ramp yesterday evening. Thankfully he's okay not much visible damage couple of scratches in his paint hope he doesn't have any damage beyond that, but hey thats why I pay for insurance. I saw him sliding out to merge into the east bound traffic on 31st turned my head left to see if I had room to merge into the next gap and next thing I know bump bump. He said the car he was going to merge in front of jumped on the gas and closed the hole on him so he had to hit the brakes, regardless I shoulda been paying attention in front of me. Sounds about right people do that **** all the time. First auto accident I've ever caused. He started out wanting the police to come out so I called and asked if they could send an officer, then I called my insurance company had him a claim number opened and all my information in his possession before the police could arrive, at which point he was like why did I bother to want the police called, they did show up though and stopped traffic so we could pull off the grass on the side. The officers that showed up were thrilled I'd already gotten everything started and we were talking and laughing with each other and not fighting and pissed off when they showed up. I was expecting a ticket for rear ending him and they didn't do anything so guess I got lucky.

Dented my bumper a little think I'll just leave it like it is it's just a truck.

That sucks. Things happen though.

My first and only accident...Did The exact same thing off northbound 169 at 61st merging eastbound as well. All was clear, they started to go, i looked left again to make sure still clear, hit the gas as looked back forward and boom. they stopped for whatever reason, which was weird cause it was totally clear and they had started to go, but either case its my fault in the end.

We exchanged numbers and no cops or ins. Involved. My fault so they got a few estimates and forwarded to me all 3 quotes and their choice (which was not the highest one). So I mailed them a check and all was good, except my bank account :)

Sorry to hear about your incident. Glad no one was injured.
We take a look at the flow of traffic and usually make good decisions. Most accidents like this are caused by people who can not continue just driving down the 4 or 6 lane road and minding their own business. They feel they need to squeeze the gap at the last minute, which their thoughts might be justified because some jerk will go down the ramp at 40 and pull right out in front of someone doing 70 before they think about stepping on the gas. My bigger gripe is the people traveling in a flow of traffic at 70 that will put on the brake to intentionally slow down to let someone doing 40 on the ramp pull out in front of them. If you do not know how to drive on the 4 lane, stay off of it. Gerrrrrr

Hey, at least you weren't texting. LOL.

Glad everyone was ok.

Well I didn't want to say anything but...

No just kidding I'm always nagging my wife because she will text and drive. I do occasionally but they're usually short and sometimes seem awful weird because voice to text isn't always perfect.

You see so many people texting and driving, out here where I live there is not much traffic but I still think it is a bad idea. Just the other day I pulled up next to a girl who was texting and driving, it made me so mad that I rolled down my window and threw my beer at her. LOL

Easy to do, did the same exact thing several years ago. Gal in front went (so I thought), I looked left for traffic and boom she had stopped. Saving grace was we were both driving pickups that had seen bumps before and she said just forget about it. She had no reason to stop, her lane was clear but something spooked her.

I was living in LA when I started driving and it does seem like nobody here knows how to drive on an expressway.

I narrowly missed doing that at the I-235/I-44 interchange, going from 235 northbound to 44 westbound, back before they "fixed" it. At the time, you'd get off 235 northbound, follow a combined enter/exit lane under 235, merge with the traffic leaving 235 southbound, then merge onto 44 westbound. Where the traffic exiting 235 merged, the traffic from northbound yielded to the traffic from southbound. (It may be the same today; I haven't been there in a long time.)

So I'm in the enter/exit lane, and there's a chick in a POS well ahead of me, so I downshift and turn to check the traffic on 44. Fortunately, I checked quickly, because when I turn around, I see that she has stopped at the yield sign. Mind you, there's nobody coming from the southbound side--she just stopped on her own. All I can say is thank God for four-wheel, four-channel ABS disc brakes!

Glad everyone is ok but having been in Oklahoma for only 2 years, I've got to say the merging and yeld sign obeying is beyond my understanding. Worst I've seen anywhere and I've lived in many places.
