They only want people that have some special skillfull occupation that can contribute to the economy, they just don't any disgruntled citizens from other countries come in.

Exactly my point.
Have a family friend that is a world traveler & he says NZ is first on his list if he had to leave the U.S. The bit about immigration for only those that contribute is true, he said the same thing about it. He is twice retired from government careers so he said he could qualify because he wouldn't require employment and would be bringing income from outside their economy to spend it within. But he says he won't leave the US in reality, it's just the next best in his opinion.
