Back to the OP before chit went sideways. 'Henry, looks like NZ can have some fairly cold winters too in most of the country. I can understand that you want a total life change but I'd bet you could find your utopia in America. If I needed a big change it would be Montana, Wyoming or Alaska. Probably be much cheaper not to mention closer to your folks.

BTW, one lesson I have always remembered from my father is no matter how big, strong, mean and badass you think you really are; there is always someone badder than you.

Yeah I love WY and MT but its cold there!! Great people though and the wildlife thing is great.
