As far as performance, the .260 rem and the creedmoor are nearly identical ballistics- so any question of bullets, effectiveness on game, etc.. should be easy info to find.. pic is 139gr sst from the .260@70 yds, quartering away.

Does anyone have any experience using the 6.5 swede. Ive been thinking about getting a 6.5x55 swedish mauser any thoughts on what i should expect?
I have been shooting the Swede’s since the early 80’s. Super accurate guns. They have been known to cleanly take moose, yes moose, with 156 grn bullets. Norma made awesome ammo for them long ago. RL22 is a very good powder with 129 grn nosler. Maybe the creedmore has an edge, but I doubt it. 6.5x55 excellent round.

Always been one of my favorite rounds.

They've all been sold but back in the late 80's and early 90's when nice Swede model M96's, M38's and M96/38's were only going for around $100.00 I had sixteen of them along with one Winchester and one Remington commercial model.......I also used to shoot a M96 in military bolt rifle matches.

I'm down to just one firearm chambered 6.5x55 Swede now........it's a TC Encore with a scoped 15" barrel.

6.5x55 is an awesome cartridge.
Light rifle, accurate, soft shooting, hard hitting.

My only complaint was the unique brass. I now shoot .260Rem. Identical ballistics, but plentiful brass.

I have several Swedes. It is an awesome rifle. My son and I have competed locally in the Military bolt action shoots and went to Camp Perry once and competed. Others here have said they are light rifles with light recoil. They are very correct. I like the round so much I had and F class rifle built around the cartridge. Its a tack driver at 1000 yards just like the Creedmore and other 6.5s. I haven't had trouble finding brassmfor reloading as was mentioned. Starline sells it and it's good quality.

Oh man, you simply cannot go wrong with a 6.5x55 Swede. My first ever “man’s rifle” was/is my 1920 M96. Took my first deer with it and it continues to be a staple in my hunting and range work “arsenal”. I since have also acquired a M94 (cavalry carbine) and M96-38 (shortened m96).

They are so inherently accurate that I intent to start competing with the m96-38 as it is such a tack driver that not doing so is a travesty.

In a surplus rifle, Ballistics are going to be very similar to 6.5cm due to The surplus actions not being as strong as commercial actions, somewhat limiting their max pressures. In a commercial rifle, it will spank a 6.5cm hands down.

I own droves of 6.5 grendel, 6.5 creedmoor, 6.5x55, and 6.5-284. My favorite, hands down, is and will always be the 6.5x55.

Here’s some 6.5x55 gel results as well. (The 130gr load is a stout load, the 140gr is very mild, but magic on any Oklahoma type game animal)
