Tire Talk - Michelin and Cooper

Tundra 4x4? If so I found sets of take offs from Jeep Gladiators fit. Bridgestone Dueler A/T.

I bought two sets for $300. They are 245/75R17s. Tallest that will fit for a standard 4x4 Tundra.

$150 a set for new set of 5 is hard to pass. I run Michelins on my pull trucks always.

These Bridgestones are wearing very well and are surprisingly good in snow/mud and rocky trails. And quiet. I run them very low air pressure multiple times a year offroad. Down to 12 to 15lbs. And they are holding up great.

1. Cooper is owned by Goodyear. Goodyear, Kelly, Dunlop and Cooper are the SAME TIRE. Kelly and Dunlop are normally the cheapest, but Kelly is hard to find.
2. The specs on any given tire determine where it is sold. The tightest specs are for new vehicles. Slightly wider specs are for dealership replacement tires. The next tier is Goodyear store. (Some are company owned and some are franchises. In Lawton, the NW store, on Quanah Parker is a company store. The 11th St store is a franchise and easier to work with.) Next tier is the tire stores; Discount Tire, Tire Warehouse, Bubba Tire, Sam's, Costco etc. At the very bottom is Wal-Mart, a tire that doesn't make Wally specs is shredded.

I buy my tires through Marketplace or Craigslist. Get the OEM (best) tires where they purchased a new vehicle and then purchased new tires and wheels.
Saves lots of $$$$ and you get the best tires.
The difference in tire A and tire B is:
1. the cost / quality of components used to build the tire and
2. the quality of construction (final specs).

I'm running the load rated Cooper Discoverer AT3 on 3 different full size trucks currently. They are holding up and ride very well for me. I'm getting ready to have set #4 put on an 07 Chevy 2500 HD 4 door full bed.

On my Tundra 4x4, I run Yokohama Geolandar AT for years, excellent treadwear, quiet road noise, reasonable price. I like them better than Coopers, and they’re less $ than Michelin. I have 18” rims, the 20” ride a little rougher with less tire and more rim, but you will get slightly higher mpg from a lighter tire weight.

I believe that my next set of tires will be the Pirelli Scorpion Weatheractives. My last 4 sets of tires have been Pirelli's (P7 and P4). Best brand I've found --- and yes, I've ran most of the main brands in the past.
