Well anytime you pour concrete you have to put sand down first and tamp it. if not you slab will only last a couple years, If you need any help when i comes time to do your floor, let me know, I have poured many a concrete slabs

This is where the issue comes into play.
If I put the dirt back in, it will take a couple of years to settle with the root debris.
I work at a power plant that has bottom ash for free, so I' might get a guy with a dump truck to bring me a load.
Water it down totally and it should settle when the water goes away with lots of packing by my tractor.
I hope. How does this sound to you?

Yeah that would work to fill in the hole, especially if it is free. But you still need to put sand down under the entire concrete slab, or else the concrete would not last. but the ash is better for the hole than just putting the dirt back in

Ya know, I never thought about tannerite....I'd like to see your results.
Knowing my luck the stump would do a slo mo through the air and land on my roof, but, I do have insurance and good fun is hard to come by:mosh:

I just removed a 10 foot tall stump that sounds similar in size.
A tornado twisted the top off of the tree about 10 ft high.
I have a dozer and it took me a couple of hours.
The hole after I got it out was about 5 feet.
