Just seeing what my fellow shooters think.

In this market, what do you guys think are fair trade values for ammo? And when I say market, I don't mean gouge...I mean supply and demand.

I ask bc it seems like ppl want the moon and then some for what they have.

recent pending deals:

100 rds of .223 for 1000 rds of .22lr? seems unbalanced to me when you can't even find .22lr on the shelf. I personally haven't seen any readily available since december and I don't get up at 5am to rob the shelfs.

have an offer for 50 rds of my .40 S&W for 60 rds of 7.62x39 his wolf. That seems fair, I may have gotten the better deal by about 10 rounds.

what about 9mm, .45acp and others?

I seem to see most people trying to sell their pistol ammo for ~$0.50/round, which is at minimum a decent markup and at most ridiculous, to me.

For .223/5.56, if you find it for $0.50/round, that is what some people seem to be considering a steal these days.

Glad I stocked up. In spite of the people who seem to think I'm an ******* for doing so. lol

I can go shoot as much as I want (with friends!) for the next few months to year or two without having to buy anything, should I so choose.

I still base any potential purchase off prices that I have paid and continue to pay. Bought a box of 5.56 ball ammo today at Academy for $8.99. Stop in everyday, grab a box and by Saturday, I've accumulated my plinking ammo. Been applying this practice for about a month now and have always had enough .22, 9mm and 5.56 to plink with on the weekend.

If you're one of these people who has to have it all at once, guess you can pay whatever you think you can afford! For me, I will buy, sell, and trade based on pricing I still see everyday at the dept. stores.

100 .223 for 1k .22 seems normal to pre-gouging. .223 average $10 box, .22 average $23-25 bulk packs... I don't see a gouge there.

I've seen WWB 9mm (normally $0.23 per round) going for $0.50+ per round everywhere. That's ridiculous. But supply and demand has the ebb and flow. It's the panic buyers that have created this, refuse to buy, prices will subside

You think $0.50/round is the average for .223 now? I mean, I'm not being argumentative, but I think that's about the LOWEST I've seen it in weeks, and a LOT of times higher. For it to be average, you'd have to be seeing as much below that as above that, and I'm just not seeing it. Matter of fact, just today in our classies, I've seen some for $0.50, some for $0.75, but none in our classifieds for less than $0.50/round in weeks.

Maybe I'm just missing it... I'm sure if any of it is going for less than that, it's getting snatched up PDQ.

For the record, I wouldn't even sell mine for $1.00/round right now. But then, I'm not going out trying, either.
